Franco J. Bertacci, Artistic Director

Maestro Bertacci began his esteemed career as a bass-baritone. After winning the prestigious Bel Canto award, he studied in Italy with Carlo Bergonzi, and continued with master classes with Giulietta Simeonato and Renata Tebaldi. Upon moving to New York, he continued his studies with world-renowned tenor Franco Corelli and the acclaimed vocal pedagogue, Cornelius Reid . Maestro Bertacci began a prominent teaching career, conducting master classes in the opera houses of Londonc, Hong Kong, Australia, Switzerland, and The Opera Company of Philadelphia.

His students have sung at all major opera companies of the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, and Covent Garden. In 1992, Maestro Bertacci formed the Lyric Orchestra and began his conducting career, performing both operatic and symphonic masterpieces.

Critics have hailed the Lyric Orchestra as being one of the finest chamber orchestras performing today. The Lyric Orchestra consists of vocal soloists and instrumentalists from over 20 countries, and has recently begun to perform in the south Florida area.
